Introduction The SCS/TNe Emulation (TN5250e) can rotate the printout from
portrait to landscape based on menu option settings.
The distinction is between control of text, orientated according to a
set text orientation command (STO) in the data stream (the FCB -
format control buffer) and control of the text orientation from the text
orientation automatic of the SCS/TNe Emulation. The SCS/TNe
Emulation is reacting to the page format stated in the FCB. This is
found in fanfold lists which are normally printed on matrix printers
with wide platens. The automatic controls can easily be tested by
using the "Print Screen" key from the system. The screen dump is
usually printed in landscape and compressed if the automatic page
orientation (APO) and computer output reduction (COR) in the SCS/
TNe Emulation is switched on with the CORDRW command.
The focus of this discussion is on how the printer automatic controls
operate, as the user does not always have the possibility of defining
whether a printout is to be rotated and compressed in the system. It
