MAINTENANCE
CLEANING THE BAND SAWMILL
Clean the band sawmill after every shift. Brush out
any wood chips or sawdust inside the band wheel
guard and on and around the rail. Wipe down
painted surfaces and plastic parts with silicone spray
(SKU: 9999-000-5110). Lubricate moving parts with
Superflo (SKU: 9999-000-5115).
WATER RESERVOIR
Empty water out of the container and pipes if the
temperature drops below zero. Washer fluid may be
used as a lubricant at sub-zero temperatures. Never
use glycol or flammable liquids as a coolant.
HORIZONTAL SAW BLADE ALIGNMENT
Check that the saw blade is parallel to the log bed
before every shift.
COMBUSTION MOTOR
Check the oil level in the motor before every shift.
Follow the maintenance schedule in the instruction
manual for the engine.
SAW HEAD LIFTING CHAINS
Check the saw head lifting chains for damage.
Replace the chains if necessary.
VERIFICATION OF SAFETY FEATURES
Check the operation of the following safety features
before every shift: Check that the throttle handle
returns so that the engine idles when the handle is
released. If it does not, lubricate the throttle cable
with Superflo (SKU: 9999-000-5115). Check that the
switch in the saw guard hinge is working. Checks
are performed by opening the covers with the motor
off and listening for the switch to trip.
RAIL FLATNESS
Check the balance of the rail before every shift,
particularly in winter when frost may affect the
surface.
BAND WHEEL BELTS
Regularly check the condition of the drive wheel
belt and the belt for the undriven wheel. Replace
any worn or damaged parts. Regularly check the
tension of the drive belt and adjust as required.
BLADE GUIDES
Regularly check the condition of the blade guide
rollers and make sure the distance between the
flange of the blade guide roller and the bandsaw
blade is within 3-5 mm. Replace any worn or
damaged blade guides.
BAND WHEEL GUARDS
Clean the inside of the belt wheel guards and the
saw blade to remove sawdust and shavings after
every hour of work or when replacing the saw
blade.
BANDSAW BLADE
Replace the bandsaw blade with a new, sharp one
about every two hours of effective sawing.
