FIRST STEPS
CONNECT TO YOUR COMPUTER
There are four ways to move files from your computer to your MakerBot Replicator Z18:
Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB cable and USB drive. Before you proceed, set up your computer to
connect using one of these methods.
To connect via Ethernet:
1. Locate an Ethernet cable (not included).
2. Connect one end of the cable to the Ethernet port at the back of your MakerBot Replicator
Z18. Connect the other end to a wall jack or router used by your local area network. MakerBot
Desktop will automatically detect your MakerBot Replicator Z18 during soware setup.
To connect via USB cable:
1. Locate the included USB cable.
2. Insert the USB-B end of the cable into the port on the back of your MakerBot Replicator
Z18 and insert the USB-A end of the cable into a USB port on your computer. MakerBot
Desktop will automatically detect your MakerBot Replicator Z18 during soware setup.
To connect via Wi-Fi:
1. Locate the included USB cable.
2. Insert the USB-B end of the cable into the port on the back of your MakerBot Replicator
Z18 and insert the USB-A end of the cable into a USB port on your computer. MakerBot
Desktop will automatically detect your MakerBot Replicator Z18 during soware setup and
use the USB connection to connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
To transfer files via USB drive:
No additional setup will be required. See Chapter 4 for instructions on exporting print files.
