Why is my Manitowoc Shuttlelift CD5515-2 Construction Equipment alternator not charging?

Several factors can cause an alternator to not charge. It could be due to a loose or broken alternator belt, in which case you should replace and/or tighten it to specification. Other potential causes include worn brushes, open brush leads or connections, an open circuit, short circuit, or grounded stator winding. A faulty voltage regulator, short circuit or open circuit in rectifier diodes, or an open circuit or short circuit in the rotor winding could also be the reason. Check for incorrectly connected, loose, or broken wires, referring to the wiring diagram for proper connections and repairing or replacing any faulty wires. Lastly, inspect the slip rings for dirt or bad connections, cleaning or repairing them as needed.
