TOLIGHTTHEPILOT:-
•Ifnecessary,openthegassupplyvalve(iffitted)behindtheappliance.Thepilotcanbeobserved
throughtheholeintherighthandendofthefrontlog.
BostonandOdessamodels:-
•Pressdownonthecontrolknobat thetop of theheater andturnitslowly anticlockwise.The
piezoigniterwillclickasasparkjumpsacrosstheterminalsatthepilotlight.Itmaybenecessary
torepeatthisseveraltimesbeforethepilotignitesifthereisairinthepilotlightpipeline.
SantaFemodels:-
•Turnthecontrolknobanti-clockwisetothe‘PILOT’position.Holdthecontrolknobdownwhile
pressingtheredbuttonofthebatteryigniter(alongsidethecontrolknob).Acontinuousspark
shouldappearatthepilotlight.Itmaybenecessarytoholdtheredbuttondownforsometimeif
thereisairinthepilotlightpipeline.Ifnosparkcanbeseen(orheard),unscrewtheblacktopcap
surroundingtheredignitionpressbuttonandcheckthebattery,replacingifnecessarywithone
AAalkalinecell.NotethattheSantaFevalveincorporatesasafetyfeaturewhichpreventsre-
lightingthefirewithintwominutesofshuttingitdown.
ONCETHEPILOTISALIGHT:-
BostonandOdessamodels:-
•Keepholdingthecontrolknobdownfor15secondsafterignition.Releasethepressureonthe
controlknob–thepilotshouldremainalightwhentheknobrises.
•Turnthecontrolfullyanticlockwiseto the‘HIGH’positionand thefire will light at fullheat.
Theremaybeastrongsmellthefirsttimethelogsarefiredbutthiswillsoondisappear.
•Aftertenminutes,setthecontroltogivethedesiredheatoutput.
•Afterthefirehasbeenalightfortenminutesyoumayturnonthefanbyrotatingthefanswitchin
eitherdirection.Theswitchgivesthreespeedsandhasan‘off’position.
SantaFemodels:-
•Keepholdingthecontrolknobdownfor15secondsafterignition.Releasethepressureonthe
controlknob–thepilotshouldremainalightwhentheknobrises.OnSantaFemodelsthecontrol
knobisathermostatcontrol.
•Turn thecontrol to thedesired room temperature setting (1to 6). If theroom is not already
warmerthanthissetting,thefirewilllight.
• As the room warms up toward the set temperature, the fire will gradually close down and
eventuallyshutoffcompletelywhentheroomhasreachedtheselectedtemperature.
•Afterthefirehasbeenalightfortenminutes,youmayturnonthefanbyrotatingthefanswitchin
eitherdirection.Theswitchgivesthreespeedsandhasan‘off’position.
•Whentheroomtemperaturefallsbelowthesetpoint,thefirewillautomaticallyre-light.Unless
theroomiswellbelowthesetpoint,thefirewillnotcomeontofullheat.
