Identification
The serial numbers are the manufacturer's keys to numerous details that apply to your Mercury Marine power package. When
contacting Mercury Marine about service, always specify model and serial numbers. The engine serial number can be found on
the maintenance schedule decal, the emission control information label, and the engine data label.
Maintenance Schedule Decal
The maintenance schedule decal is located on the top cover of the engine, and contains the engine serial number as well as
other important information.

Emission Control Information Label and Engine Data Label
An emission control information label, and an engine data label are attached to the coolant tank on the port side of the engine
at the time of manufacture. These labels contain important information. Neither boatbuilders nor dealers may remove these
labels or the engine component they are secured to before sale. If modifications are necessary, or the emission control
information label or the engine data label are damaged, contact Mercury Marine about the availability of a replacement.
The owner or operator is not to modify the engine in any manner that would alter the horsepower or allow exhaust gas emission
levels to exceed their predetermined factory specifications.
