10. Install the pressure cap at the top of the engine.
11. Verify the engine is supplied with water and start the engine. Run the engine for ten minutes to purge the system of
trapped air.
12. Stop the engine and allow it to cool. Do not remove the pressure cap when the engine is hot. When the engine is cool,
remove the cap and top off the coolant level to the surface that the cap seals against. There should be no air volume below
the cap.
IMPORTANT: Running the engine for a short time, stopping the engine, and then checking the fluid level, may need to be
done several times to ensure the system is completely purged of trapped air. Failure to purge all of the trapped air, may
cause the engine to overheat.
13. Replace the top cover and secure with the ten screws removed in step 2. Tighten the screws to the specified torque.

Check the coolant level in the coolant recovery reservoir. Refer to Inspect the Coolant Recovery Reservoir Fluid Level.
Air Filter
Clean and replace the air filter at the prescribed intervals, or when specified by the air filter restriction indicator. Refer to
Maintenance Schedules.
1. Release the clamp securing the air filter to the base.
IMPORTANT: Once the clamp is released, the air filter assembly will be loose. Be careful not to drop the air filter
assembly.
