12. Use a rag to clean any fuel from the exterior of the parts and bilge. Dispose of the rag in accordance with local, federal,
and international regulations.

Engine‑Mounted Fuel Filter
The engine‑mounted fuel filter is located just forward of the air filter on the port side of the engine. Refer to Maintenance
Schedules for recommended maintenance intervals.
Engine-Mounted Fuel Filter Replacement

WARNING
Fuel is flammable and explosive. Ensure that the key switch is off and the lanyard is positioned so that the engine cannot
start. Do not smoke or allow sources of spark or open flame in the area while servicing. Keep the work area well ventilated
and avoid prolonged exposure to vapors. Always check for leaks before attempting to start the engine, and wipe up any
spilled fuel immediately.
IMPORTANT: Use a suitable container to collect fuel. Clean up any spills immediately and dispose of fuel in a safe manner in
accordance with all local, federal, and international regulations.
IMPORTANT: The engine‑mounted fuel filter cannot be cleaned; it must be replaced.
1. Disconnect both battery cables from the battery.
2. Turn the fuel filter counterclockwise to remove it from the mounting head. Verify the gasket is not adhered to the mounting
head.

3. Discard the used filter and gasket in accordance with all local, federal, and international regulations.
4. Ensure the new filter has the same filtration properties as the one that was removed.
5. Lubricate the new fuel filter gasket with oil.

6. Align the new filter to the mounting head and hand‑turn the fuel filter clockwise until the gasket contacts the head. Tighten
the filter an additional 3/4 of a turn. Do not use tools when installing the new filter.
