3.5 RCD – Trip-out current
For general information concerning Trip-out current measurement, refer to enclosed
handbook Measurements on electric installations in theory and practice.
How to carry out the measurement?
Step 1
q Connect universal test cable to EasiTest.
q Set function switch to RCD RAMPTEST position, Trip-out current initial
menu will be displayed; see the figure below.
Fig. 15: Trip-out current initial menu
Step 2
Select nominal differential current I∆n as follows:
q Press the SELECT key, last set nominal differential current starts to blink.
q Select appropriate value using the ▲ and ▼ keys. The following values are
available to be selected: 10mA, 30mA, 100mA, 300mA, 500mA or 1000mA.
Step 3
q Connect test cable to tested object (mains outlet or other test terminals),
according to the figure 12. (Universal test cable).
Step 4
q Press the START key and release it (double click to START key will change
positive start polarity of test current to negative one; see the figure 14).
Measurement will be carried out and result displayed afterwards.
q Check contact voltage at trip-out current, trip-out time at trip-out current and set
limit contact voltage by using the DISPLAY key.
G........Standard (General) type of
RCD is selected. S is
displayed if Selective
type is selected.
∼ .........Start polarity of test current.
