poisonousandcontaincarbonmonoxide,
whichcancauseunconsciousnessandmay
evenbefatal.
Catalyticconverterscanbedamagedifthe
wrongfuelisused,orifanenginemisre
occurs.Beforestartingtheengine,please
readcarefullythecontentsinthe"Catalytic
Converter"section.
StartingProcedures
1T urnoffallunnecessaryelectricalappliance(including
A/C);
2Applytheparkingbrake(referto"BrakeSystem"of
thissection);
3Forautotransmissionvehicle,ensurethattheshift
leverisinPorNposition.
Note:Whentheshiftleverisinanyother
positions,theenginecannotbestarted.
4Formanualtransmissionvehicle,ensureneutralis
selectedandtheclutchpedalisfullypressed.
5Insertthekey,rotateittoSTARTpositionandrelease
thekeyimmediatelyaftertheengineisstarted.
Note:Continueduseofthestarterwiththekeynot
releasedwillnotonlydischargethebattery,butalso
maydamagethestarterandcatalyticconverter.
Ifthekeyinsertedintheignitionswitchisnotrecognised
bytheengineimmobiliser,theenginewillbedisabled.The
relevantalarmiconand"InvalidKey"willappearonthe
messagecentredisplayofsomemodels(referto"Message
Centre"in"InstrumentsandControls"section).
