Incaseofashortstayonahill,suchastrafc
jam,DONOTusetheacceleratorpedal
frequentlytokeepthevehiclefromslipping,
asthismayresultintheoverheatofdual
clutchautomatictransmission,evendamage.
HillStart
Incaseofhillstart,thestartingaidfunctionofelectronic
parkingbrake(EPB)canbeusedtopreventfromslipping.
Withtheseatbeltsafelyfastened,depresstheservice
brake,applytheelectronicparkingbrakesystem,and
engageintothedesiredgear(D/R/S),thenreleasethe
servicebrake;depresstheacceleratorpedalforstart-off,
theelectronicparkingbrakesystemwillautomatically
deactivatedforstartingaid.
Forthemodelswithhillholdcontrolfunction,such
functioncanalsobeusedforhillstart.Fordetailsonhill
holdcontrolsystem,pleasereferto"ServiceBrake"of
"BrakeSystem"section.
Note:Evenwiththeaidofsuchfunctions,theriskof
slipisstillthereoncebeyondthephysicallimitations,
DONOTdriverisklywiththeadditionalconvenience
providedbysuchfunctions.
DrivingdowntheHill
Depressingthebrakepedalcontinuouslyfor
alongtimemayresultinbrakeoverheat,
therebycausingthedegradationofbrake
performanceorevenbrakefailure.
Whendrivingdownthehillwithalongdistance,reduce
thevehiclespeedrst,andthenpushtheshiftleverfrom
DgeartotherightsidetoenterintoTiptronicmode
andthenmanuallyengageinlowgear.Thegreaterthe
slope,thelowergearwillbeengaged.Insuchaway,the
transmissioncanbeheldatacertainlowgearforalonger
time,soastomakefulluseofthebrakemechanismofthe
engineandalleviatetheloadofthebrake.Forexample,
whendrivingdownthehillwithcontinuouscurves,engage
into2gear;whendrivingdownthestraighthill,engage
into3gear.Ifthebrakeforceofengineisinsufcient,the
speedisincreased,dualclutchautomatictransmissionwill
shifttohighgearautomaticallytoavoidtheoverrunning
oftheengine,atthistime,youneedtodepressthebrake
