Makesurethatbothbatteriesareofthesame
ratedvoltage(12volts),andthatthejumper
cablesareapprovedforusewith12voltcar
batteries.
Makesurenonakedameisaroundthe
enginecompartment.
Usingjumpercables(jumperwires)fromadonorbattery,
orabatteryttedtoadonorvehicle,istheonlyapproved
methodofstartingacarwithaatbattery.
Ifthebatteryfromadonorvehicleistobeused,makesure
thatthevehiclesareparkedsothatthetwobatteriesare
adjacenttooneanotherandthatboththevehiclesdonot
touch.
StartingtheCar
Makesurethateachjumpercableis
securelyconnected.Theremustbenorisk
oftheclipsaccidentallyslippingfromthe
batteryterminals(asaresultofengine
vibration,forexample);otherwisethiscould
causesparking,whichcouldleadtoreor
explosion.
