Model SP-8 & 10
Note: Blade restraint chain should engage with blade
such that chain wraps around blade section from front
side as shown in illustration. Any other way of engaging
blade restraint chain to blade will cause blade to
disengage and swing out on its own.
15. Make sure slope of blade is such that blade length
is parallel to ground.
16. Lower blade down by toggling grade switch until
blade restraint assembly (J) stops blade from going
down any further and grade cylinder pressure goes
over relief.
17. Toggle conveyor direction switch on operator
console to left side.
18. On left side, repeat steps for positioning blade
assembly as in section 5.3.1. These steps are
same for left hand blade position. Push tubes and
outer edger brace, which are removed from right
side blade assembly, must be used on left side
blade assembly set up.
5.7.3 HydrAulIC extensIon CHAnGeover
Hydraulic extension is an option, which can be
purchased separately to achieve an instantaneous
variation in overall blade length by up to 2 feet.
Hydraulic extension must be mounted at outermost
end of blade. Moveable section of hydraulic extension
must always extend toward outer edger assembly.
Nothing but the outer edger assembly must be bolted
to moveable section of hydraulic extension.
^ WARNING
Prevent serious injury or death.
Before performing inspections, service or
maintenance:
Park machine on rm, level surface and
engage parking brake.
Switch engine off.
Close and lock control panel cover.
Chock tires.
^ WARNING
Prevent serious injury or death.
Blade components are heavy.
Use an adequate lifting device to raise, lift
and move blade and blade components.
Outer Edger Assembly - 113 lbs.
Hydraulic Extension Assembly - 225 lbs.
NOTICE
Prevent machine damage.
Hydraulic extension must be mounted at
outermost end of blade.
Nothing but the outer edger assembly
must be bolted to moveable section of
hydraulic extension.
1. Start machine as in section 5.2. If machine is in
motion, park machine on a rm level surface,
engage parking brake by pushing operator console
E-stop button all the way down. Keep engine
running.
2. Toggle conveyor direction switch on operator
console to right side.
3. Toggle extend switch on operator console to extend
hydraulic extension to full cylinder stroke.
4. Lower blade assembly to ground by toggling grade
switch on operator console.
5. Switch engine off.
6. Close and lock control panel cover.
7. Mark hoses (A) and (B) connecting the “extend”
and “retract” ports between hydraulic extension (C)
and right side bulkhead ttings (D).
8. Disconnect hoses from hydraulic ttings (E) on
hydraulic extension and bulkhead ttings (D).
Cap hoses and ttings to prevent hydraulic oil
