Overview

The Mircom TX3 Series MiEntry is a mobile application designed for Android (version 6.0 and above) and iOS (version 10 and above) devices, providing SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) voice and video calling capabilities with Mircom's TX3 voice entry products, specifically the TX3 Touch Screens that support SIP, and the TX3 Nano. This application serves as a convenient interface for users to manage calls and access control functionalities from their personal mobile devices.

Function Description:

The primary function of MiEntry is to facilitate communication between a mobile device and a TX3 voice entry product. This includes answering incoming calls from the TX3 system, initiating calls to the TX3 Nano, and controlling access (e.g., unlocking a door) during a call. The app leverages SIP for voice and video communication over an IP network, allowing for remote interaction with visitors at an entry point.

Usage Features:

  1. Account Configuration and Registration:

    • Email and Phone Verification: Upon account creation by an administrator, users receive an email and a text message to verify their email address and phone number, respectively. This ensures secure setup and proper communication channels.
    • Password Creation: After verification, users receive an email to create a password for their MiEntry account. This step is crucial for securing access to the application.
    • MiEntry Setup: Users are required to input their SIP account details (domain, SIP username, and SIP password) into the MiEntry app. These credentials are provided during the account creation process. The "Remember Me" option allows users to save these details for future convenience.
    • Registration Status Indicator: The app provides a visual indicator to show the registration status with the SIP server. On iOS, this appears at the top of the Dialpad and History screens. On Android, it's a colored dot next to the SIP username on the Settings screen.
      • Green/Registered: Successfully connected to the server.
      • Yellow/In Progress: Registration is ongoing.
      • Grey/Not Registered: Disconnected, often due to internet issues.
      • Red/Failed: An error occurred during registration, possibly a problem contacting the SIP server or internet connection.
  2. Call Management:

    • Answering Calls: When a call comes in from a TX3 voice entry product, the screen displays the caller's configured display name. Users can accept the call on iOS by tapping "Accept" and on Android by tapping the "Answer" icon. For locked iOS devices, users swipe right on an arrow to answer.
    • Declining Calls: Users can decline calls on iOS by tapping "Decline" and on Android by tapping the "Cancel" icon.
    • Making Calls: Users can initiate calls to a TX3 Nano by typing its SIP username into the dialpad and tapping the phone icon.
    • During a Call:
      • Video Feed: If the caller's device supports video and the MiEntry app is configured to accept video calls, a video feed from the caller is displayed.
      • Unlock Door: A "Door" icon allows users to remotely unlock the door connected to the TX3 system. The call is disconnected, and the door automatically relocks after the visitor enters.
      • Refuse Access/Hang Up: The "End Call" icon allows users to terminate the call and refuse access.
      • Mute Microphone: Users can mute their microphone using the microphone icon.
      • Mute Speaker: Users can mute the device's speaker using the speaker icon.
      • Pause/Resume Call: Calls can be put on hold using the "Hold" icon, during which the caller hears music. Calls can be resumed by tapping the hold icon again (iOS) or the play icon (Android).
      • Stop/Start Video (Android only): Users can stop or start the video feed during a call.
  3. Call History:

    • The "History" icon on the dialpad provides a list of all made and received calls.
    • Users can tap "Missed" to view only missed calls.
  4. Logging Out:

    • Users can log out from the "Settings" screen. Logging out unregisters the app from the SIP server, preventing further incoming calls.

Maintenance Features:

  1. Granting Permissions:

    • Initial Setup: The first time MiEntry is opened or a call is made/received, the app requests various permissions (notifications, camera, microphone, Bluetooth, contacts, audio recording, phone calls, pictures, and video recording). Users must grant these permissions for the app to function correctly, especially for video calls.
    • Troubleshooting Permissions: If call issues arise, users can troubleshoot by navigating to their device's settings (iOS: Settings > MiEntry; Android: Settings > Apps > MiEntry > Permissions) and ensuring that Microphone, Camera, and Notifications (for iOS) or Camera, Microphone, and Telephone (for Android) permissions are enabled. For iOS, further notification settings (alerts, sounds, badges) can be configured.
  2. Settings Management:

    • Enable Video: This setting, enabled by default, must be active for MiEntry to send and receive video.
    • Advanced Settings (iOS):
      • Transport: Allows changing the SIP transport protocol (default is TCP).
      • Open Door Digit: Configures the DTMF signal sent to the TX3 Nano or Touch Screen to open the door (default is 9). This must match the TX3 system's configuration.
      • Debug: Enables recording of information for Mircom technical support to help resolve issues.
      • Send Logs: Allows users to email debug logs to Mircom technical support.
      • Clear Logs: Erases recorded debug logs.
    • Video and Advanced Settings (Android):
      • Initiate video calls: Controls whether MiEntry automatically requests video when starting a call.
      • Accept incoming video calls: Controls whether MiEntry automatically accepts video requests on incoming calls.
      • Preferred video size: Allows selection of video resolution (default is qvga to conserve bandwidth).
      • Enable animations: Toggles the sliding animations within the app.
      • Open Door Digit: Similar to iOS, configures the DTMF signal for door opening.

The MiEntry app is designed to be user-friendly, providing clear indicators and straightforward controls for managing entry calls and access. Its robust permission management and troubleshooting guidelines ensure that users can maintain optimal functionality.
