Cylinder Block, Crankshaft, Pistons
and Oil Pan

16.7 Main bearing cap removal
1. Lay the cylinder block with its bottom (oil pan) side
up.
2. Remove the bolts that hold the main bearing caps
in position. Remove the caps.
3. Remove the front and rear bearing caps with a
sliding hammer.

16.8 Crankshaft removal
Remove the crankshaft.

16.9 Piston separation from
connecting rod
1. Use Piston Pin Setting Tool (31A91-00100)
(special tool) to separate the piston from the
connecting rod.

CAUTION
Do not cause damage to the bearings.
NOTE
Put identification on each main bearing as to its
location in the engine.
