2. Ina well-ventilatedarea,startthe snowthrower
engineas instructedearlierinthissectionunderthe
headingStartingEngine.Makesurethe throttleisset
inthe FASTposition.
3. Whilestandingintheoperator'sposition(behindthe
snowthrower)engagetheauger.
4. Allowtheaugerto remainengagedforapproximately
ten(10)secondsbeforereleasingthe augercontrol.
Repeatthis severaltimes.
5. Withthe enginerunninginthe FASTpositionandthe
augercontrolinthe disengaged"up" position,walkto
thefrontof the machine.
6. Confirmthatthe augerhascompletelystopped
rotatingand showsNO signsof motion.
iMPORTANT:Ifthe augershowsANYsignsof rotating,
immediatelyreturnto the operator'spositionandshut
off theengine.Waitforall movingpartsto stopbefore
readjustingtheaugercontrolcableasshowninthe
"SetupAndAdjustment"sectionon page7.
Clearing The Snow
CAUTION:Checkthe areato beclearedforforeign
objects.Remove,ifany.
1. Starttheenginefollowingstartinginstructions.
2. Allowtheenginetowarmupfor a fewminutesas
theenginewillnotdevelopfull poweruntil itreaches
operatingtemperature.
3. Rotatethe chuteassemblyto the desireddirection,
awayfrombystandersand/orbuildings.
4. Makingcertainnobystandersorobstaclesarein
frontof the unit,squeezethe augercontrolcompletely
againsttheupperhandleto fullyengagethe augers.
5. Whiletheaugercontrolisengaged,squeezethe drive
controlcompletelyagainsttheupperhandleto engage
thewheels.Donot"feather"thedrivecontrol.
6. Asthesnowthrowerstartsto move,maintaina firm
holdon the handle,andguidethesnowthroweralong
thepathto becleared.
7. Releasetheaugeranddrivecontrolsto stopthe snow
throwingactionandforwardmotion.
NOTE:Yourunit isequippedwitha clutchinthetransmis-
sion.If the wheelsstopturningwhiletryingto discharge
largevolumesof snow,immediatelydisengagethe drive
controlandallow the rotatingaugerstodischargesnow
fromthe housing.Reducethe clearingwidthandcontinue
operation.
Operating Tips
1. Formostefficientsnowremoval,removesnow
immediatelyafteritfalls.
2. Dischargesnowdownwindwheneverpossible.
Slightlyoverlapeachpreviousswath.
3. Settheskid shoes1/4"belowtheshaveplatefor
normalusage.Theskidshoesmaybeadjusted
upwardfor hard-packedsnow.
NOTE:Itisnotrecommendedthatyou operatethis
snowthrowerongravelas loosegravelcan be easily
pickedupand thrownbythe augercausingpersonal
injuryand/ordamagetothesnowthrower.
4. If forsomereason,youhavetooperatethe snow
throweron gravel,keeptheskidshoeinthe highest
positionformaximumclearancebetweentheground
andthe shaveplate.
5. Cleanthesnowthrowerthoroughlyaftereach use.
Cleaning The Chute Assembly
Theclean-outtoolisconvenientlyfastenedto the rearof
theaugerhousingwitha mountingclip.
Whensnowandice collectin thechuteassemblyduring
operation,usethis toolto safelycleanthe chuteand
chuteopening.Followthestepsbelowtooperateit.
__IL ARNING:Stop engineby moving
throttle leverto stoppositionand wait
for all moving partsto stop before
using theclean-out tool.
1. Releasebothaugeranddrivecontrols.
2. Stoptheenginebymovingthrottleleverto stop
position.
3. Removethe clean-outtool fromthe clip which
securesit to the rearof the augerhousing.
4. Usethe shovel-shapedendof the clean-outtool to
dislodgeandscoopanysnowandicewhichhas
formedinand nearthe chuteassembly.
_ ARNING:Never use yourhands to
cleansnow and ice from thechute
assembly or auger housing.
5. Re-fastentheclean-outtooltothemountingclip
onthe rearof the augerhousing.Youcan start
operatingyour snowthrowernow.
8. On eachsucceedingpass, readjustthe chute
assemblytothedesiredpositionandslightlyoverlap
thepreviouslyclearedpath.
