Replacing the Shave Plate
and Skid Shoes
Theshaveplateand skidshoesonthe bottomof the
snowthroweraresubjectto wear.Theseshouldbe
checkedperiodicallyandreplacedwhennecessary
Toreplace,removetwocarriageboltsandhexnuts
securingeachskidshoetotheaugerhousing.SeeFig.9
2. Reassemblenewskidshoeswithhardwarejustremoved.
Makesuretheskidshoesareadjustedtobelevel.
3. To removeshave plate: Removeboth skidshoes
andhardwareincludingcarriagebolts,andhex
nutswhichattachshaveplateto the snowthrower
housing.Forlocationofshaveplate,seeFigure9.
4. Reassemblenewshaveplate,makingsureheads
ofthecarriageboltsareto the insideof the housing.
Reinstallskidshoes.Tightensecurely.
Servicing Augers
Theaugersaresecuredtothespiralshaftwithfour
shearpinsandcotterpins.If youhita foreignobjector
icejam, thesnowthrowerisdesignedso thatthe pins
mayshear.Referto Figure9.
If theaugersdo notturn,checkif thepins havesheared.
Replace,if needed,with propershearpins.Referto
item42on page17for part number.
IMPORTANT:NEVERreplacetheaugershearpinswith
standardpinsorfasteners.Anydamageto theauger
gearboxorother components,asa resultof doingso,
willNOTbe coveredbyyoursnowthrower'swarranty.

1. Beforeoperatingsnowthrower,checkthe oil level.
2. Changeengineoil afterfirst two hoursof operation
andevery25 hoursthereafter.
3. Cleansparkplugand resettheelectrodegapto
0.030"atleastoncea seasonorevery100hoursof
operation;replaceevery200hoursof operation.
Check V-Belts
Followinstructionsbelowtocheckconditionofdrivebelts
every50 hoursofoperation.
1. Removetheplasticbeltcoveronthe frontof theengine
byremovingtheself-tappingscrewandpressingthe
plastictabsto releasethebeltcover.SeeFigure11
2. Visuallyinspectfor frayed,cracked,orexcessively
wornoutbelts.Replace,if necessary,following
instructionson page13.
