Engine Oil
Theengineisshippedwith oilinit.Checkthe oil level
beforefirstuse.
1. Stopengineandwaitseveralminutesbeforechecking
oil level.Removeoilfill capanddipstick.
2. Wipedipstickclean,insertit intooil fill holeand
tightensecurely.
3. Withengineon levelground,oil mustbeto FULLmark
on dipstick. SeeFigure8. Ifoil levelis low,addoil.

Besuretousethegradeof engineoil specifiedin engine
manual.Toaddoil:
1. Removethe dipstickfromtheoil fill. Pourfreshoil
slowlythroughthe plug. Replacedipstick.
2. Checkandmakesurethatthe levelof oilis upto the
FULLmarkon thedipstick.
IMPORTANT:Forcompletedetailedengineinformation,see
theseparateengineowneCsmanualincludedwiththisunit.
Gasoline
_ ARNING:Gasolineis flammableand
caution must be used when handling or
storing it. Donot fill fuel tank while the
snowthrower is running, when it is hot
or when itisin an enclosedarea.
_ WARNING:Keepyoursnowthroweraway
from anyopenflameor an electricalspark
anddo not smokeduring fueling.
3. Neverfillthefueltankcompletely.Fillthetankto
no morethan1/2inchbelowbottomof filler neckto
providespaceforexpansionoffuel.
NOTE:Thisunitmayincludea fuel plug,whichis only
usedduringassemblytokeepdirtanddebrisoutoffuel
tank. Discardthe fuel plugbeforefillingthe fuel tank.
5. Alwaysuseclean,fresh,unleadedgradeautomotive
gasoline.Fillthefueltankoutdoorsand usea funnel
or spoutto preventspilling.Makesurethatthe
containerfromwhichyou pourthe gasolineis clean
andfreefromrustor otherforeignparticles.Make
suretowipeoff anyspilledfuel beforestartingthe
engine.
6. Attheendof thejob, emptythe fueltankif the snow
throwerisnotgoingto be usedfor30 daysor longer.
Storegasolinein acleancontainerandkeepthe cap
in placeon the container.
CAUTION:Never useengine or carburetor cleaner
productsin thefuel tank.
To Start Engine
,1_ WARNING:Besure no one other than
the operator isstanding near the snow
thrower while starting or operating. Do
notoperate this snow thrower unless
the chute assembly has been properly
installedand issecured.

section,seetheengineowner'smanual.
Recoil Starter - Cold Start
1. Makesurethataugeranddrivecontrolsare
released.Attachsparkplugwiretosparkplug.
2. Turnfuel valveon, if soequipped.
3. Movethrottlecontrolto FASTposition.
4. Pushkeyintotheignitionslotso thatitsnapsinto
place.Donotturnkey.
5. Rotatechokecontrolto FULLchokeposition.
6. Pushprimerbuttonwhilecoveringthe venthole.
Removeyour fingerfromtheprimerbetweenprimes.
Donotprimeif temperatureis above500F; prime
twotimesbetween500Fand 150F;andprimefour
timesbelow150E
7. Graspstarterhandleandpullropeoutslowlyuntilengine
reachesstartd compressioncycle(ropewillpull
slightlyharderatthispoint).Letthe roperewindslowly.
8. Pullropewitha rapid,continuous,full armstroke.
Keepinga firmgriponthestarterhandle,letthe rope
returnto thestarterslowly.Repeatuntilenginestarts.
9. Astheenginewarmsup, rotatethechokeknobslowly
toOFFposition.Iftheenginefalters,returnto FULL
choke,then slowlymoveto OFFchokeposition.
10.Allowthe engineto warmup fora fewminutes
becausetheenginewillnotdevelopfull poweruntil it
reachesoperatingtemperature.
11.Operatethe engineat full throttle(FAST)when
throwingsnow.
Warm Start:
1. If restartinganengineaftera temporaryshut-down,
rotatechoketo OFFinsteadof FULLanddo not
prime.Pullstarterhandleasinstructedbefore.

The electric starter
must be properly
groundedat all
times to avoid the
possibilityof electric
shock to the operator.
if your house wiring
system isnot a
three-wire grounded
system, do not use
this electric starter
under any conditions.
