Starter removal
To remove/replace the starter assembly:
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the starter cable using a 10 mm wrench.
3. Remove the two screws that secure the starter to the
engine using a 12 mm wrench.
See Figure 6.1.
4. Slide the starter off of the dowel pins, indicated by the
arrows in
Figure 6.2.
5. Install the starter by following the previous steps in
reverse order.
NOTE: Tighten the starter screws to a torque of 16 - 18 ft
lbs (22 - 25 Nm).
6. Test run the engine before returning it to service.
