Creating a Bootable CD
ThedownloadedfileisaCDimagefile(ISO)containingthefilesnecessarytocreatea
bootableCD.AsystemwithaCD/DVDburnerisrequ iredtoperformthisfunction.
1. InsertawritableCDintheCD/DVDburnerdrive.
2. RecordthedownloadedimagefileontotheCDusingautilitythatis
capableof
burningISOfiles.
Note: YoucannotsimplydropthefileontheCDandburnit.Youmustusesoftware
capableofrecordingISOimagesontoCDs.
Creating a Bootable USB Memory Drive
ThedownloadedfilecontainsthefilesnecessarytocreateabootableUSBMemory
Drive.
1. InsertaUSBdrivethatisformattedasFAT(orFAT32).
2. Unzipthedownloadedfiles.
3. CopythefilestotherootdirectoryoftheUSBdrive.
4. OpenaDOScommandwindow.
5. ChangedirectorytotheUSBMemoryDrive.
6. Executethe
followingcommand:
Syslinux -fma <USB drive letter>
Example: Syslinux -fma f:
ThiscommanderasesanybootablemethodsthatmaybepresentontheUSBdrive
andreplacesitwiththeSPI/BIOSupdateprocess.
IftheresultingUSBmemorydriveisnotbootable,trythefollowingcommand.
Thisrunsslowerbutismoreeffective.
Syslinux -sfma <USB drive letter

Important:Donotrunsyslinuxbydouble‐cli ckingonitbecause itmayaffectthe
bootdriveoftheterminalbeingusedtocreatethedrive.
Windows7Note:Theabovecommandsmustbeexecutedasadministrator.
FailuretorunasadministratorresultsinanMBRwritefailure.Toopena
commandshellwithadministratorprivilegesperformthefollowing:
Start → All Programs → Accessories → Command Prompt →
[right‐click] "Run as" → Administrator
