    • T
      thomaskatherineAug 19, 2025
If you cannot log in to your NETGEAR Network Router, first, check the Ethernet connection between your computer and the router. Ensure your computer’s IP address is on the same subnet as the router. If your computer’s IP address is shown as 169.254.x.x, reboot your computer and check the connection to the router. You can also clear the router’s configuration to factory defaults. Ensure that Java, JavaScript, or ActiveX is enabled in your browser. Try quitting and relaunching your browser. Finally, verify that you are using the correct login information; the default login name is 'admin' and the password is 'password'.

What to do if my NETGEAR Network Router cannot access the Internet?
    • C
      Caleb WrightAug 22, 2025
If you cannot access the Internet with your NETGEAR Network Router, your Internet service provider (ISP) might require a login program. Ask your ISP whether it requires PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE) or some other type of login. If your ISP requires a login, ensure the login name and password are set correctly. You may also need to assign the computer host name of your ISP account as the account name in the Internet Setup screen. If your ISP allows only one Ethernet MAC address to connect to the Internet, inform your ISP that you have bought a new network device and ask them to use the router’s MAC address or configure your router to clone your computer’s MAC address.
