If the tunnel is operated in client mode, the following settings can be applied:
Parameter OpenVPN Client Configuration
Peer selection Specifies how the remote peer shall be selected, besides a
single server you may configure multiple servers which can,
in case of failures, either be selected sequently (i.e. failover)
or randomly (i.e. load balancing)
Server The address or hostname of the remote server
Port The port of the remote server (1194 by default)
The following settings can be used to configure a tunnel:
Parameter OpenVPN Configuration
Type The device type for this tunnel which can be either TUN
(typically used for routed connections) or TAP (required for
bridged networks)
Protocol The tunnel protocol to be used for the transport connection
Network mode Defines how the packets should be forwarded, which can be
either routed or bridged from/to a particular LAN interface.
If required, you can also specify the maximum transfer unit
for the tunnel interface.
MTU The Maximum Transmission Unit of the tunnel interface
Cipher The required cipher mechanism used for encryption
Digest The digest algorithm used for authenticating
Authentication can be done in the following ways:
Parameter OpenVPN Authentication
certificate-based Certificates and keys for authenticating the tunnel. Please
take care that the proper keys/certificates have been either
uploaded or generated (see 5.8.8).
credential-based Username and password are used for authentication.
both Verifying the tunnel uses certificates and credentials.
none Tunnel is not authenticated (discouraged)
