Getting started
42 XTM0011-F2 XT V 160 X-ray System
If the contrast is poor because the sample is being over-penetrated, decrease the X-ray
energy (kV).
If the image is too dark, increase the flux (µA).
If the image is saturated, and you cannot see detail, decrease the flux (µA).
Ensure that the image is sharp with the focus control.
A Supervisor can define and save imaging presets for a particular inspection and sample
type. If you run a similar inspection, you can then re-load these settings by selecting the
appropriate imaging preset.
Refer to the Inspect-X Online Help or User Manuals for more
information.
Use the Inspect-X image-processing tools to optimise and enhance an X-ray image. For
example, the Tone tool allows the contrast and brightness of an image to be enhanced and
adjusted. This can be useful if you want to accentuate specific features within an X-ray
image.
For detailed descriptions of the Tone tool and the other
image-processing functions, see the Inspect-X Online Help or User
Manuals.

Click the down arrow next to and choose the number of frames to average. This
reduces image noise. The image capture starts automatically if you change the number
of frames.
A progress bar displayed across the top of the image window shows the progress of the
capture process. The higher the number of frames, the higher the quality of the X-ray
image and the longer it takes to capture.
