Maintenance
XT V 160 X-ray System XTM0011-F2 53
to function in the correct manner. The coolant assembly for the X-ray system is located
behind the right-hand rear access panel.
Ensure that you clean up any coolant spillage prior to re-fitting the
covers or re-powering the system.
Do not use normal tap water to top-up the cooling system. Only use
Hexid A4.
The cooling system is fully interlocked to the rest of the machine.
If the coolant level drops below a pre-determined level the machine will ‘drop’ the
interlocks for the X-ray gun and an audible alarm will sound.
There is also a flow rate detector on the system that will ‘drop’ the interlocks if the coolant
flow drops below a pre-determined flow rate. In this case, there is no audible alarm, but
the "Check Coolant" and "No Interlock" banner displays in Inspect-X. The "No Interlock"
condition can also occur for other reasons and is not exclusively indicative of a problem
with the coolant flow.
To check coolant level, follow these steps:
1. Examine the cooling system for leaks.
If you detect any leaks, trace to the source and rectify, where possible. If it is not possible
to trace the leak, contact Nikon Metrology for assistance.
2. Check the coolant level by unscrewing the dipstick as shown below.
Do not unscrew the screw in the centre of the filler cap or the dipstick
will be lost into the coolant reservoir.
3. The coolant level should be between the two marks indicated.
