CleanedFilter
The engine air cleaner/filter is located at the front of the
engine compartment,
on
the driver’s side of the vehicle,
under the engine coolant reservoir. See
Engine
Compartment Overview
on
page
5-
72
for more
information on location.
Checking or Replacing the Engine
Air Cleaner/Filter

Unlatch the two hooks on top of the engine air

Remove and replace the engine air cleaner/filter.
5.
Align the tabs located on the bottom of the
panel with the slots at the bottom of the housing.
6. Latch the hooks to secure the panel in place. If the
panel moves easily, check that the tabs are seated
correctly in the slots.

Put the duct back on and reinstall the clamps.

Remove the
two
clamps on the duct.
2.
Remove the duct.
Operating the engine with the air cleaner/filter
off
can cause you or others to be burned.
The air cleaner not only cleans the air,
it
stops
flame if the engine backfires.
If
it
isn’t
there
and the engine backfires, you could be burned.
Don’t drive with
it
off,
and be careful working
on the engine with the
air
cleaner/filter
off.

Notice:
If
the air cleanedfilter
is
off,
a backfire
can cause a damaging engine fire. And, dirt
can easily get into your engine, which will
damage
it.
Always
have
the
air
cleanedfilter
in
place when you’re driving.
