5-2 Connection/Disconnection Test
Before performing the connection/disconnection test in Test Mode, always
verify that it is safe to do so and will not adversely affect the system.
Use the procedure above to test each branch output's connection and con-
nect the branch outputs that will be used.
Note Be sure to connect the branch outputs that will be used. If a branch
output is not connected when the S8M is switched to Run Mode,
that branch output cannot be used. Either return to Test Mode and
connect the output or connect it using communications.
If the Down Key ( ) is pressed a second time when connecting/disconnect-
ing branch output 4, the indictors for all branch outputs will flash and all
branch outputs can be connected and disconnected at the same time. Refer
to 5-3 Checking Sequence Operation.

The flashing “on” display indicates that the S8M is ready
to connect branch output 1.
To connect branch output 1, press the Mode Key ( ).
If the Mode Key ( ) is pressed, branch output 1 will be
connected and the output 1 indicator will light.
The seven-segment display will flash the word “off” to
indicate that the S8M is ready to disconnect branch out-
put 1.
(If the Mode Key ( ) is pressed again, branch output 1
will be disconnected.)
If the Down Key ( ) is pressed, the display will flash
the word “on” to indicate that the S8M is ready to con-
nect branch output 1.
To connect branch output 2, press the Mode Key ( ).
If branch output 2 will be connected, press the Down
Key ( ).
