The following describes command processing when two R/W Heads are con-
nected
to one ID Controller
. In the case of normal auto commands, the ID Con

troller
does not return a response until the DC comes close to the specified
R/W
Head. This means that until the response is sent,
the
communications path with
the host computer remains in the busy status, and the host computer cannot
send commands specifying the ID Controller’s other R/W Head. However, the
polling auto command enables the ID Controller to return the response when
requested
by the
host computer
