Connecting the remote zone (Zone 2) speakers
The TX-SR701/701E/601/601E allows you to lislen to two separate
input sources a/ the same time. This allows you to, for example,
place speakers in two different rooms so that two or more people
can enjoy two different kinds of music at the same time. The room
where the TX-SR7OI/701E/6OI/601E is actually localed is referred
to as the main morn while the separate room is referred to as the
remole zone (Zone 2). In addition, the IR IN terminal of the TX-
SR701/701E/601/601E allows you to control the TX-SR701/701E/
601/601E from the remole zone (Zone 2) with the remote controller
even though the remole zone is physically separaied. The diagrams
below show how to make the proper connections for the remote
zone.
When using the ZONE 2 SPEAKERS terminals
You can connect the speakers for the remote zone (Zone 2) to the
ZONE 2 SPEAKERS terminals.
When you connect the speakers to the ZONE 2 SPEAKERS
terminals, set the "HaMware Config" setting to "Zone 27' In this
setting, while you use the remote zone (Zone 2), surround playback
will not be available for the main room (2ch s/ereo playback only).
When you are not using the Zone 2, 6.1-channel playback will be
available for the main room.

When using the ZONE 2 LINE OUT terminals
The ZONE 2 LINE OUT ierminal is a constant output. Connect to
the LINE input of the amplifier (CD, tape, eic.). Adjust the volume
with the amplifier connected to the ZONE 2 LINE OUT terminal.
In this connection, whatever the "Hardware Config" setting is set to,
6.1 channel playback is always available for main room.
1. Connect the TX-SR701/701E/601/601E to the amplifier
for the remote zone.
2. Connect the remote zone speaker cables to the
speaker terminals on the amplifier.

Note:
'Ihe ZONE 2 out lerminals of the TX-SR701/701E/601/601E are of
a fixed output level.
When using the ZONE 2 PRE OUT terminals
(TX-SR701/701 E only)
You can connect the amplifier for the remole zone (Zone 2) to the
ZONE 2 PRE OUT terminals and connect the remote zone
speakers.
When you connect the speakers to the ZONE 2 SPEAKERS
terminals, set the "Hardware Config" setting to "Zone 22' In this
setting, while you use the remote zone (Zone 2), surround playback
will not be available for the main room (2ch stereo playback only).
When you are not using the Zone 2, 6.1-channel playback will be
available for the main room.
