Troubleshooting guide
Stereo indicator lights, but sound is distorted and stereo
separation is bad.
• Station is too strong.
•--, Change to FM indoor antenna (see page 29).
• Multiple reflection of the radio waves because of tall buildings
or mountains.
•--, Use antenna thai has better directivity and orient it so
distortion is least.
Indicators for stereo reception flicker and hiss is heard
on FM stations.
• Station is too weak.
•"-, Install an outdoor FM antenna (see page 30).
• Stereo FM broadcasts cover only about half the distance of an
oMinary broadcast.
•--, Change the position or direction of the outdoor antenna (see
page 30).
No preset station is recalled.
• Memory is lost because power has been turned off for a long
time.
•"-, Store aft stations again (see page 38).
VIDEO and AUDIO
Desired picture does not appear.
• Improper connection.
•"-, Check connections. Insert the plugs and connectors
complelely (see pages 14 to 30).
No OSD Menu display.
• hllproper connection.

• OSD Menu is displayed when monitor is connected to VIDEO
or S VIDEO of MONITOR OUT.

Audio and video do not match.

Audio is not heard or audio from different source is
heard.
• Digital Input sellings are incorrect.

No picture appears on the TV screen (or monitor).
• TV (or monitor) is not set to receive the output signals from the
receiver.

• Video cable is not connecled securely.

REMOTE CONTROLLER
Front panel controls function but remote controller
controls do not.
• No batteries in remote controller.

• Remole controller is not pointed at the remote sensor of the TX-
SR701/701 E/601/601E.

LATE NIGHT function cannot be used.
• Playhack source is not Dolby Digital encoded.

mode.

Multichannel audio is not output.
• DVD player is not connected to 5.l-channel input.jacks.

Components in remote zone (Zone 2) do not operate
properly.

• Objects are interfering with remote controller signals.

Sound is sometimes heard and sometimes not heard with
digital sources.
• One digital input formal has heen specified so other digital
formals are not played.
•"-, Use the AUDIO SELECTOR to select "Auto" and set
"Auto" for the Auto mode (see page 42).
Noise during playback or skipping of the beginning
sounds occurs with DTS sources, PCM sources, and
other digital sources.
• When "Auto" is set for the digital fomlat setting, time is
required to change formats when different sources are played.
•--, Switch from the Auto mode to the current source signal (see
page 42).
