Check painted surfaces
Check the outboard for scratches, nicks,
or flaking paint. Areas with damaged paint
surfaces are more likely to corrode. Clean and
paint the areas if necessary. Touch-up color is
available at your local dealer’s.
Check the cowling sealing
Check that the sealing is not dry, broken or
worn, as this will allow water to enter the
engine.
Check the top cowling
!
CAUTION
Make sure that the top cowling is securely
closed and that there are no gaps. A loose or
improperly fitted cover could allow water to
enter the engine.
Check the fitting of the top cowling. Reinstall
if the fit is not complete. Contact your dealer/
manufacturer if it is still loose.
