Fuel tank straps Tighten to proper torque value of 45 - 70 Lb. ft. (61 - 95 N.m.); *check annu-
ally once strap tension reaches a steady state; i.e., after 2 - 3 retorquings,
the measured torque is the same as previous reading.

Battery Battery cables Check the condition of the cables, cushion clamps, and routing. Replace a
cushion clamp if the rubber has deteriorated. Repair or tighten terminals,
and secure cables to prevent chafing. Replace damaged cables (cuts,
cracks, or excessive wear) (see page 195
).
