5.1 General information
There is a multitude of the most varied of automatic transmissions from vehicle manufacturers.
The designations of the individual driving gears vary in the same manner. The driving gears listed
intheseoperatinginstructionscanthereforebeonlygenerallyapplicableandmaynotreectthe
designations used in your vehicle for this reason.
The designations used in the US are voluntarily adopted by most vehicle manufacturers.

• Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 102.
The following sequence is maintained and used:
• P Park
-> Parking position with mechanical locking of the transmission to prevent rollaway.
• R Reverse
-> Reverse gear.
• N Neutral
-> Idle.
• D Drive
-> Forward driving with automatic gear selection.
