7. TROUBLESHOOTING
. ..B. HYDRAULIC SYSTEM...
SYMPTOM
POSSIBLE CAUSE
REMEDY
Loss of hydraulic power or
hydraulic pressure (Cont.)
External leaks.
Tighten or replace lines,
fittings,
par6
etc., as
required.
Blocked reservoir vent.
Inspect filler cap for plugged
vent holes.
Excessive noise (howl)
Oil is cold.
Allow oil to warm.
Suction line blockage.
Inspect reservoir, suction line,
and pump inlet for restriction
and remove.
Wrong oil.
Use
any
good quality
hydraulic oil.
Motor gears rubbing motor
housing.
Check motor housing for
overheating. Replace motor if
overheating exists.
Motor
should be warm but not hot.
Erratic hydraulic
drive
power- or
hydraulic
pressure
Low oil level.
Add oil.
Foreign material floating in
reservoir, partially blocking off
suction line.
Inspect reservoir, suction line
and pump inlet for restriction
and remove.
Air suction.
Tighten
suction line
connections and check oil
level in reservoir.
Blocked reservoir vent. Inspect filler cap for plugged
vent holes.
Hydraulic oil gets extremely
hot
Heat exchanger damaged.
Check that heat exchanger
allows full water flow through
the oil cooler.
Oil level low.
Add oil.
Relief valve set too low. Test and adjust relief valve to
correct setting.
-
Motor gears rubbing housing.
Check motor housing for
overheating. Replace motor if
motor runs hot.
