5. If the cardholder inserted their card, the terminal prompts the cardholder to remove the card.
After the transaction completes, the terminal returns to the Idle Screen.
Credit Auth
An AUTH transaction (card authorization, pre-authorization, or preauth) verifies an electronic
transaction initiated with the credit card and holds that amount as unavailable until the merchant clears
the transaction (settlement) or the transaction hold expires. The AUTH transaction does NOT charge the
credit card but reserves the requested amount and places a hold on the cardholder’s option-to-buy.
