START-UP OF UNIT
Follow the procedures for the initial and consequent operations (after temporary stop for cleaning,
maintenance or moving) of the unit.
At the recovery from power failure, the operation is start-up automatically with temperature setting of
4
o
C
1. With the blood bank refrigerator empty, connect the power supply cord to the dedicated outlet with
appropriate rating, and turn on the power switch. For the location of the power switch, see page 13.
The alarm buzzer operates. Silence the alarm buzzer by pressing the alarm buzzer stop key
(BUZZER). The alarm buzzer recovers after 30 minutes. (This is caused by high temperature alarm
function and not a malfunction.)
2. Fill the monitor bottles with 10% glycerol fluid or water. [page 16]
<Important>
Close the doors (outer and inner door) securely. The door check indicator is lit when the outer door is
open. The alarm buzzer activates when the outer door is opened for more than 2 minutes. The alarm
buzzer is canceled when the outer door is closed.
3. The chamber temperature is set to 4
o
C at the factory. Check that the chamber temperature reaches
4
o
C on the temperature display.
Check that the chamber temperature falls to 4
o
C on the temperature display when the start-up after
stop for cleaning, maintenance or moving.
4. Turn on the light switch to check the fluorescent lamp is on. After checking, turn off the light switch if
the light is not necessary.
5. Turn on the battery switch.
<Important>
Always turn on the battery switch when the blood bank refrigerator is operating to assure the power
failure alarm.
6. Turn on the power switch of the temperature recorder. [page 21]
7. Begin slowly placing items into the chamber to minimize the temperature rise.
<Important>
Never put the storage items on the bottom of the chamber. Always put the storage items in the drawer.
Never store items other than blood in the chamber together with the blood.
Never stack the blood bags in the drawers.
<Attention>
Under high ambient temperature and humidity, the outer door has a condensation on the glass during
refrigerator operation. Wipe off the condensation with a dry soft cloth. Also, wipe off the water on the
condensation tray regularly.
