PIAGGIO ZIP 4T - Refitting the Transmission Cover; End Gear

Refitting the transmission cover
- Check the following for wear: toothed section,
toothed section shaft, cover seat bushing, pinion
shaft and its seating in the crankcase and the re-
turn spring.
- Remove the damaged components.
- Grease the spring.
- Remove the toothed sector and load the spring
with an appropriate tool.
- Refit the washer, the Seeger and the Kick-start
lever.

Soap-based lithium grease with NLGI 3; ISO-L-
XBCHA3, DIN K3K-20
- Insert the pinion in its seating by pushing the starter lever.
- Fit the intake throat and tighten the 3 screws.
-Make sure the oil sump presents centring dowels
and sealing gaskets.
- Replace the cover tightening the 12 screws to the
prescribed torque.
-Refit the oil filling cap.
Locking torques (N*m)
Transmission cover screws 11 ÷ 13 Nm
