12. Lift prop shaft assembly and remove out the rear
right side of the vehicle.
PROP SHAFT INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT
Always install a new Roll Pin when replacing the Prop
Shaft
1. Apply anti-seize compound to splines of front
gearcase input shaft, and the transaxle output shaft.
2. Install rear U-joint on transaxle shaft, then install
front, aligning the roll pin holes.
3. Reverse the removal steps to install the prop shaft,
using a new roll pin for the front joint.
4. Re-connect battery cable (s). Place the larger cable
against battery terminal and the smaller against the
terminal nut and torque to specification.
TORQUE
Battery Terminal Nut: 8 ft-lbs (10.8 Nm)
5. Place 48 volt fuse block back in the holder. Install
inner fender panel and right wheel. Wheel and Hub
Torque Table, page 2.7
6. Re-connect the Main Power Connector.
PROP SHAFT U-JOINT SERVICE
Disassembly
1. Remove snap ring from all bearing caps.
CAUTION
Wear eye protection.
2. Using a grease pen or scribe, make index marks on
inner and outer yokes so they can be aligned
correctly during reassembly.
3. Support inner yoke as shown and drive outer yoke
down (to force bearing cap out) with a soft face
hammer.
