If the gauge has just been powered on or a cable has just been inserted into the empty optical gate,
then the calculated “Reference Diameter” will only be valid after the Reference Average Time” has
elapsed. During this period, multiple false neck flaws will be detected. Hence the “Reference Average
Time” should not be set to an excessively large value in order to minimise the ramp up time for the
“Reference Diameter”.
Start speed
Setting a minimum “Start speedprevents the SMFD function from logging flaws during line start-up
and shutdown.
Start length
Setting a minimum “Length” prevents the SMFD function from logging flaws during line start-up and
shutdown.
