FishnderTransducerCalibration
Yourshndertransducermustbecalibrated
correctlytoachieveaccuratedepthreadings.
Themultifunctiondisplayreceivestheimagefrom
asonarmodulewhichprocessessonarsignals
fromatransducermountedinthewater.Ifthe
transducerisequippedwithaspeedpaddlewheel
andtemperature-sensingthermistor,thesonar
modulecalculatesspeedandtemperature.To
ensureaccuratereadings,itmaybenecessaryto
calibratethetransducer(s)byapplyingoffsetsto
depth,speedandtemperature.Asthesesettings
areheldinthesonarmoduleandrelatetothe
transducer,theyareappliedsystem-wide.
DepthOffset
Depthsaremeasuredfromthetransducertothesea
bed,butyoucanapplyanoffsetvaluetothedepth
data,sothatthedisplayeddepthreadingrepresents
thedepthtotheseabedfromeitherthekeelorthe
waterline.
Beforeattemptingtosetawaterlineorkeel
offset,ndouttheverticalseparationbetweenthe
transducerandeitherthewaterlineorthebottomof
thekeelonyourvessel,asappropriate.Thensetthe
appropriatedepthoffsetvalue.
