•Alternatively ,thesuppliedpowercablemaybe
connectedtoasuitablebreakerorswitchonthe
vessel'sdistributionpanelorfactory-fittedpower
distributionpoint.
•Thedistributionpointshouldbefedfromthevessel’s
primarypowersourceby8AWG(8.36mm

)cable.
•Ideally,allequipmentshouldbewiredtoindividual
suitably-ratedthermalbreakersorfuses,with
appropriatecircuitprotection.Wherethisisnot
possibleandmorethan1itemofequipmentsharesa
breaker,useindividualin-linefusesforeachpower
circuittoprovidethenecessaryprotection.

Powercableextension
Ifyouneedtoextendthelengthofthepowercable
suppliedwithyourproduct,ensureyouobservethe
followingadvice:
•Thepowercableforeachunitinyoursystemshould
berunasaseparate,singlelengthof2-wirecable
fromtheunittothevessel'sbatteryordistribution
panel.
•Forpowercableextensions,aminimumwiregauge
of16AWG(1.31mm
2
)isrecommended.Forcableruns
longerthan15meters,youmayneedtoconsidera
thickerwiregauge(e.g.14AWG(2.08mm
2
),or12
AWG(3.31mm
2
)).
•Animportantrequirementforalllengthsofpower
cable(includinganyextension)istoensurethatthere
isacontinuousminimumvoltageattheproduct’s
powerconnectorof10.8Vdc,withafullyflatbattery
at11Vdc.
Important:Beawarethatsomeproductsinyour
system(suchassonarmodules)cancreatevoltage
peak
satcertaintimes,whichmayimpactthevoltage
availabletootherproductsduringthepeaks.
