How do I select Wind V ane mode?
Y ou can select Wind Van e mode from either Standby or Auto mo de:
1. Steady the b oat onto the required win d angle.
2. Press
standby
and
auto
together to select Wi nd Vane mode and lock the
current wind angle:
the display shows the locked heading (e.g. 128°) and the wind angle
(e.g.
WIND 145P
indicates an wind angle of 145° to port)
if the SmartPil ot does not enter Wind V ane mode , it is not receiving wind
data  check th e instrument and connections
3. In Win d Vane mod e, the SmartPilot will then adjust the boat’ s heading to
mainta in the locked wind angle .
How do I leave Wind Vane mode?
Y ou can leave Wind V ane mode by:
pressing
auto
to return to Auto mod e.
pressing
standby
to return to manual con trol.
How do I adjust the locked wind angle
Y ou can adjust the locked wind angle by using the

button s to
change course. For example, to bear away by 10° when the boat is on a starboard
tack:
press
10
to turn th e boat 10° to por t the locked wind ang le and lock ed
headin g will both change b y 10°.
the autop ilot will then adjust the lo cked headin g as required to mainta in the
new wind angle.
Note:
Because turnin g the boat affects the relationship between the true and apparent
wind an gles, yo u sho uld on ly use this m ethod to m ake min or adjus tments to t he wind an
gle. F or major chang es, return to Standby mode, steer onto the new heading, then reselect
Wind Van e mode.
