How do I dodge an obstacle in Wind V ane mode?
In Win d Vane mod e you still have full contro l from the k eypad. Y ou can make a
dodge maneuver by using the course change buttons (
1
,
+1
,
10
or
+10
) to
select the desired course change .
After yo u have avoided the hazard, you can cancel the dodge course change by
making an equal course chang e in the opposite directi on.
What is a Wind Shift warning?
If the auto pilot detects a wind shift of mor e than 15° it will sound the wind shift
warn ing and display the
WIND SHIF T
message:
T o cancel the warning, and retain the existing wind angle and new heading,
press
standby
and
auto
together.
Altern atively , to cancel the wa rning and return to th e previous heading:
adjust th e lock ed wind angle using the
1
,
+1
,
10
and
+10
buttons.
press
standby
to return to hand steering , steer onto the required head
ing, and press
standby
and
auto
together to return to W ind V ane mode
with the new wind angle .
How do I use AutoTack in Wind Vane mode?
Note:
If you use the AutoTack functio n in Wind Vane mo de, make sure the wind vane has
been centered accurately.
The SmartPilot has a built in automatic tack facility (AutoTack) that turns the boat
in the requ ired direction for a tackin g maneuver .
When y ou AutoT ack in Win d Vane mod e, the boa t turns through the AutoTack
angl e (100° default). The SmartPilot will then trim the helm to mirror the lock ed
wind an gle from the previous tack.
