If an illegal command or character is sent to the IM, an asterisk (*) must be
transmitted to clear the input buffer. The IM will not respond to an illegal or
incomplete transmission. The diagrams show the differences in the timing
considerations for either Abbreviated or Full Character Transmission, or if a
Reset Command is issued.
Note: If Full Transmission is selected and the front panel is being accessed at the
time of transmission, the IM may take as long as 2 seconds to respond.
