Rocker cover: Removal - Refitting

-the rocker cover seal.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a parts always to be replaced: Rocker cover gas-
ket (10,02,01,12).
a Clean the cylinder head joint face using ABRASIVE
PADS.
a Use SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and ingredients for the repairwork) (04B, Consu-
mables - Products) and CLEAN CLOTHS to de-
grease:
-the cylinder head joint face,
-the rocker cover seal housing in the rocker cover if
it is to be reused.
a
a Apply four beads (21) of SILICONE ADHESIVE
SEALANT (see Vehicle: Parts and ingredients
for the repairwork) (04B, Consumables - Products)
2 mm in diameter and 10 mm long.
If replacing the rocker cover
a Remove the camshaft position sensor from the roc-
ker cover.
a Refit the camshaft position sensor onto the new roc-
ker cover.
WARNING
Do not scrape the joint faces of the aluminium,
any damage caused to the joint face will result in
a risk of leaks.
WARNING
To ensure proper sealing, the gasket surfaces
must be clean, dry and not greasy (avoid any fin-
ger marks).

WARNING
Applying excess sealant could cause it to be
squeezed out when parts are tightened. A mix-
ture of sealant and fluid could damage certain
components (engine, radiator, etc.).
