Fuel filter: Removal - Refitting

REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
a Remove:
-the front right-hand wheel (see Wheel: Removal -
Refitting) (35A, Wheels and tyres),
-the front section of the front right-hand wheel arch
liner (see Front wheel arch liner: Removal - Re-
fitting) (55A, Exterior protection).
II - REMOVAL OF PART CONCERNED
a Disconnect the diesel fuel heater connector (1) .
a Remove the fuel filter mounting nut (2) .
a Disconnect the fuel pipes (3) on the fuel filter
a Fit blanking plugs.
a Remove the fuel filter.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a parts always to be replaced: fuel filter seal (11,
03,01,07).
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit the fuel filter onto the mounting.
a Connect the fuel supply pipes.
a Refit the fuel filter mounting nut.
a Connect the diesel fuel heater connector.
IMPORTANT
Consult the safety and cleanliness advice and ope-
ration recommendations before carrying out any
repair (see 13B, Diesel injection, Diesel injec-
tion: Precautions for repair, page 13B-1) .
WARNING
To avoid any corrosion or damage, protect the
areas on which fuel is likely to run.

Keep the pipe unions away from contaminated
areas.
Note:
If the fuel filter is to be re-used, fit blanking plugs.
