II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit:
-a new seal between the catalytic converter and the
turbocharger on the turbocharger,
-the catalytic converter,
-the catalytic converter upstream strut.
a Fit without tightening:
-the catalytic converter upstream strut bolt on the
cylinder block,
-the upstream strut bolt on the sump.
a Refit the catalytic converter downstream strut.
a Fit without tightening:
-the catalytic converter downstream strut bolt on the
gearbox,
-the catalytic converter downstream strut nut on the
gearbox,
-the catalytic converter upstream strut bolts on the
catalytic converter,
-the catalytic converter downstream strut bolt on the
catalytic converter,
-the catalytic converter nuts on the turbocharger.
a Tighten to torque:
-the catalytic converter nuts on the turbocharger
(28 N.m),
-the catalytic converter upstream strut bolts on
the cylinder block (50 N.m).
a Tighten:
-the catalytic converter downstream strut bolt on the
manual gearbox,
-the catalytic converter downstream strut nut on the
manual gearbox.
a Torque tighten the catalytic converter upstream
strut bolts on the catalytic converter (26 N.m).
a Tighten:
-the catalytic converter downstream strut bolt on the
catalytic converter,
- the catalytic converter upstream strut bolt on the
sump.
a Refit a new ring on the catalytic converter exhaust
flange.
a Fit the exhaust pipe on the catalytic converter.
a Refit the exhaust bracket bolts fitted with their
springs.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit the lower engine tie-bar.
a Tighten to torque:
- the lower engine tie-bar bolt on the subframe
(180 N.m),
- the lower engine tie-bar bolt on the lower engi-
ne tie-bar support (180 N.m).
a Refit the lower engine tie-bar (see 19D, Engine
mounting, Lower engine tie-bar: Removal - Refit-
ting, page 19D-33) .
a Refit:
- the engine undertray,
- the engine cover.
a Connect the battery (see Battery : Removal - Refit-
ting) (80A, Battery).
Note:
Check that there is no contact between the cata-
lytic converter and the turbocharger oil return
pipe during the entire catalytic converter tighte-
ning operation.
