ERROR CODE DIAGNOSTICS
2.2 ERROR CODE LIST
A055 ERROR CODE
Gas motor failed.
The venturi in this water heater has a butterfly valve to
control air volume. The motor adjusts the position of
this butterfly valve. If the motor controlling the butterfly
valve does not work properly, the water heater displays
the “ A055 ” error code on the User Interface.
Diagnostic check items
• Gas control motor on the Venturi assembly
Turn Power OFF
Remove and reinsert connector "J".
Visually inspect water volume control valve
for loose or damaged connections. Reas-
semble & operate unit.
Turn power ON and operate unit.
Unit has a loose con-
nection.
Unit appears to be
operating.
Check connector "J"
and operate unit again.
If "A055" error code
is appeared, Replace
control board.
Check connector "J",
and operate unit again.
If "A055" error code
is appeared, replace
control board.
Check connector "J",
and operate unit again.
If "A055" error code
is appeared, Replace
control board.
While water is flowing, the unit is at-
tempting to ignite.
Measure DC voltage between #2 wire
(White) & #8 wire (Black) at connector "I"
While water is flowing, the unit is attempting
to ignite.
Measure DC voltage between #6 wire
(Green) & #8 wire (Black) at connector "J".
Turn power OFF then ON.
Operate unit again.
If "A055" error code is appeared, replace
gas control motor.
While water is flowing, the unit is at-
tempting to ignite.
Measure DC voltage between #7 wire
(Red) & #8 wire (Black) at connector "J".
Is "A055" error
code appeared?
Is the voltage
4-16 DC Volts?
Is the voltage
4-16 DC volts?
Is the voltage
4-10 DC volts?

If voltages are NOT registering, ATTEMPT to
activate water volume control valve by turn-
ing remote control to highest temperature
setting & opening all hot water fixtures.
CAUTION: Hot water temperatures above
120 will scald. Return to original setting once
test is complete.
