Registering paper by the Media Identification Unit
When scanning a paper by the Media Identification Unit, it is possible to search custom paper
whose configurations are similar to those of the custom paper registered in Master Library and
register it.
Use the Media Identification Unit by connecting to the USB slot in the back of the machine.
① Power lamp
Lights up when a USB cable is connected, and the Media Identifica-
tion Unit is ready to start scanning paper.
② Scanning lamp
Lights up when paper is inserted into the scanning area. After the pa-
per is removed, it flashes while paper is being scanned.
③ Error lamp
Lights up when an error occurs.
④ Paper scanning area
Insert the paper you want to scan here.
(1) Press [Tray Paper Settings] on the operation panel of the machine.
(2) Select [CustomPaper Management.
When paper you want to use is not registered in Master Library
A paper not registered in Master Library cannot output with quality the machine origi-
nally has. Please consult with a sales representative beforehand. For test printing
with a small number of papers, register a paper whose type and weight are similar to
the paper you want to print as custom paper. For cautions when using special types
of paper, see "Characteristics and Conditions of Paper" in "Paper Fundamentals".
