Function
Specifies whether or not to automatically detect paper skew.
When to use
Deactivate this setting, if J097/J098 occurs frequently. However, do so only after confirming that
adjusting 1321-06: [Paper Edge Detection] does not resolve the jam.
Paper Edge Detection
1321 [Jam Detection] [Paper Edge Detection]
Function
Sets the duration the light is emitted from the CIS (contact image sensor) to detect the paper edge
for color media.
When to use
Use this if excessive (JAM97/JAM98) skew/shifting occurs frequently. When printing on highly
reflective paper such as thick color paper, a (JAM97/JAM98) paper jam may be erroneously
detected. In such a situation, it is necessary to make adjustments such as increasing luminance.
Also, if CIS luminance is high, paper dust and stains may accumulate in the machine, and this may
cause erroneous (JAM97/JAM98) jam detection. When printing on plain and thin color paper, it
may be effective to adjust the luminance to standard value "3".
