Why does the web browser at IP address 192.168.0.100 not display for RTA Gateway?
    • C
      Charles MarshAug 16, 2025
If the web page isn't displaying when your computer is on a wireless network, it might be due to subnet selections. Try using either the crossover cable or a regular cable with a hub/switch on the same subnet. If you can ping the RTA 460 Gateway from your computer, this isn't the issue. Also, verify that your web browser isn't set to use a proxy server. If you're using Internet Explorer, check Internet Options/Connections/LAN Settings and ensure the 'Use a proxy server for your LAN' option is unchecked.

How to connect personal computer to RTA 460 Gateway?
    • R
      Rita AndersonAug 19, 2025
First, make sure the RTA 460 Gateway has power. To connect a personal computer, you'll need either an Ethernet crossover cable or a null modem cable. The RTA 460 Gateway was shipped with one of each of these cables.

Why I do not see any serial data in the buffer on the Device Summary and Status screen of RTA 460 Gateway?
    • C
      Catherine MayoAug 22, 2025
First, ensure that the RTA 460 Gateway was restarted after its initial configuration. Then, verify the RTA 460 Gateway is connected to the correct devices. Finally, press 'Refresh' on the Device Summary and Status screen.

What to do if data transmission has stopped on RTA Gateway?
    • W
      wheelerjamesAug 26, 2025
Check that all the cables and the power cord are securely connected. If data from one port is transmitting, but the other port isn't, try swapping the cables.

    johnnybirdAug 28, 2025
Why is the end of the data being lost on RTA Gateway?
    • A
      Amber WestAug 28, 2025
You might be sending more bytes of data than specified in the 'Maximum message length' field or allowing insufficient transmission time due to the 'Receive Character Timeout' field setting. Alternatively, if using an end delimiter, the 'Maximum message length' or 'Receive Character Timeout' settings may cause data transmission to occur before the end delimiter is detected. New data transmits after the start delimiter is recognized; data after the buffer length restriction and before the next start delimiter is lost.

Why no data output comes from the RTA 460 Gateway?
    • R
      Robert ReyesAug 31, 2025
The output from the device may be disabled. Verify that the 'Buffer Transmit Length' is not set to 0 in the applicable serial module configuration. Also, check that the start and stop delimiters are different for serial modules.

Why is the data transmitting from RTA Gateway incorrect?
    • J
      jodymartinezSep 3, 2025
This could be a data format (radix) issue. For instance, if you're sending ASCII data but displaying decimal data, your data might appear to be off by 48. Remember that a zero value in decimal is 0x30 in hexadecimal.

    Connie HudsonSep 6, 2025
Why the data displaying on the Device Summary and Status screen of RTA 460 Gateway is not the same as the data sent to the end-point device?
    • A
      allenjacobSep 6, 2025
Try changing how you are viewing the data (ASCII, decimal, or hexadecimal) in your tag or register.

    Raven HamiltonSep 9, 2025
Why does the error code still display on the Device Summary and Status page of RTA 460 after the error has been fixed?
    • K
      kimberly20Sep 9, 2025
Transmit data successfully, then click on the 'Refresh Device Summary and Status screen'.

    Dr. Joseph BrightSep 12, 2025
Why does N/A display on the Device Summary and Status screen of RTA Gateway?
    • S
      Susan RossSep 12, 2025
The port and/or function might be disabled because the 'Enabled?' box for the protocol type isn't checked on the RTA 460 Communication Module Configuration screen, or the 'Receive Character Timeout' field (in the Serial Modules) is set to 0 on the RTA 460 Communication Module Configuration screen.
